I am super late getting this update out… since I should have posted the beginning of January. Thankfully, you have seen most of the December happenings in my last post.
So here is what happened at the end of the month.
*First of all… Christmas!!
We took Gambo to see Christmas lights on Christmas Eve. There is a neighborhood that goes all out for everyone to enjoy.
Gambo seemed to like it, but it was past his bedtime.
Then we got to wake him up for his first Christmas morning (in America). (Please excuse my singing voice… it was Christmas morning.)
He got one gift the night before, Christmas PJ's.
For breakfast we had cinnamon rolls
Then we opened presents
Then Gambo got to open one present we couldn't wait to give him (you might be able to guess since I've talked about his favorite thing here on the blog)
He was SO checking it out and SO excited!
He loved his new guitar!
He carried it around with him all day long!
And wanted daddy to play with him.
We opened presents as well, and I gave Mark a special surprise of an Amazing Race (from the TV show) to find his present.
He had to find clues and perform tasks… including eating baby food (I won't post that video)!
(Counting all the pins and needles in my sewing room… there were a lot)
We had a nice Christmas dinner
And took pictures with the tree (or course the guitar was in the picture too)
I loved seeing the JOY on Gambo's face.
It makes me think of his last Christmas, in Uganda, and how it was probably missing so much joy. He probably had no idea it was Christmas or that it was about Jesus' coming to this earth. He had no presents and no tree. And had no idea that we were on the other side of the world waiting for him. But to see that change that God has brought to us all… him with a family and us with the joy in celebrating his first Christmas with us… it's amazing!
Gambo's next holiday was New Year's Eve. Rather than stay up till midnight, we tried to celebrate when Greenland (ha ha!) was celebrating their New Year's Eve countdown (so that we could put him to bed at normal time).
My attempt at the count down.
FAIL
He was not too thrilled after all with all the noise makers.
Sometimes it is just a little too much stimulation, and he has had enough.
Overall, it was a great way to end 2013 and think of all that God had accomplished in the last year. Now we look forward to what He is doing this year.
Happy 2014!!
