We have begun our adoption from the Democratic Republic of Congo on May 14, 2011. We are hoping this program will be a good fit for our family and we are excited to see what happens.
On Oct. 14 we found out we are officially #11 on our agency's wait list for a referral.
On Oct. 31st we were #10 on the list.
In the spring they did away with wait list numbers and told us that they offer referrals in order of when you submitted your dossier.
By early summer we were told a referral was coming soon.
Summer, and everything came crashing down!
Our agency has admittedly seen major problems in their DRC program. Corruption had to be dealt with, and an upheaval had to occur. Referrals had to wait.
Update: August 2012 and we are pretty close to a referral, but at this point we don't feel comfortable in the agency's practices in order to continue waiting in their program. Things need to be fixed first before we can continue.
Update: August 16th, 2012-- we put our case on HOLD.
Update: June 29, 2014-- We found out that our Congo agency, when put under suspension by the Hague commission because of ethical violations, decided to close down.
